A Caring Alternative, LLC is a nationally CARF accredited service provider with facilities in Morganton, Marion and Asheville, NC. We provide an array services to Alexander, Buncombe, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, and McDowell Counties, which consist of Assisted Family Living, Assertive Community Treatment Team, Community Support Team, Day Treatment, Integrated Care, Intensive In-Home, Medication Management, Out Patient Therapy, and Therapeutic Foster Care. 


We are CARF accredited and CABHA certified.



We are currently seeking to fill the following positions within the agency:

    • A Caring Alternative is seeking to fill several positions in the creation of an Individual Placement Support (IPS) and Supported Employment (SE) Program in Morganton, North Carolina. Positions include a Certified Peer Support Specialist, Employment Specialist, and Team Leader. These position will be responsible for engaging clients and establishing trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of gaining employment in community job settings.
    • A CPSS certification and HS Diploma is required for considertation for the CPSS position
    • A Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or closely related Human Services area or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP)
    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or closely related Human Services area and 2 yrs documented experience with adult mental health population. Six (6) months vocational experience required.

    • Seeking a Chief Financial Officer to fill an execuitive leadership position. They will oversee and be responsible for all financial activities to include but not limited to: accounting, billing, reporting, budgetary, revenue cycle management, expenses, forecasting, tax reporting, outcome tracking, audits, funding contracts, and ensuring agency compliance with legal and contractual obligations.  This position will report to the CEO and work with the Executive Leadership Team to contribute to the strategic direction and continued growth of the organization while maintaining agency core values. 
    • The ideal candidate is a strong financial leader, innovative thinker and problem solver with demonstrated experience managing financial systems, implementing budgeting and business planning processes within a behavioral health setting; one who can set clear and effective direction, build collaboration across departments, demonstrate a high degree of judgement and discretion as a data-driven and decisive decision maker.
    • Requirements for this position include Bachelors Degree in Accounting Businesiness Finance or closely related field, Five (5) years of financial leadership experience and three (3 years of supervisory experience, CPA or Master's degree preferred.

    • Seeking a full time Qualified Professional to serve as a member of a Critical Time Intervention team. Critical Time Intervention (CTI) is a time-limited intensive case management model designed to assist adults age 18 years and older with mental illness who are going through critical transitions, and who have functional impairments which preclude them from managing their transitional need adequately. CTI promotes a focus on recovery, psychiatric & physical rehabilitation, and full community inclusion.

    • Seeking a full-time direct care staff to work as a Residential Coach in Marion, NC providing person-centered focused services that respond to the need of children and their caregivers. As a Residential Coach, you will provide emotional, physical and daily living care for youths (ages 6-20) with behavioral health needs in a group home setting. Must be kind, patient, reliable and dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of children. Experience is helpful, but we will train the right candidate.

    • A Caring Alternative, LLC is seeking an Intensive In-Home Services Associate Professional or Qualified Professional for Marion, NC. We are looking for an individual to work as a part of a collaborative team dedicated to the reunification of families.  Services include but are not limited to crisis management, intensive case management, individual and/or family therapy and skills training in the child’s natural environment to provide services to children with mental illness. Must be willing to travel within the counties served by the team.

    • A Caring Alternative, LLC is seeking a Transition Management Services Qualified Professional to join a team serving consumers in the Hickory, North Carolina area. This team's primary purpose is to provide mental health services to adults who have a serious mental illness or a serious and persistent mental illness. Primary duties will include but not be limited to: increasing the individuals ability to live as independently as possible, provide tools and resources to help individuals manage mental health symptoms, and re-establishing the individuals community roles related life domains such as emotional, social, safety, housing, medical and health, educational, vocational, and legal.

    • A Caring Alternative is seeking a Licensed Professional to serve as the team lead for a newly established Community Support Team (CST) in Hickory, North Carolina. Community Support Team (CST) services consist of community-based mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation services and necessary supports provided through a team approach to assist adults in achieving rehabilitative and recovery goals. CST is intended for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or both who have complex and extensive treatment needs. The individual’s clinical needs are evidenced by the presence of a diagnosable mental illness, substance use disorder, or both. This is an intensive community-based rehabilitation team service that provides direct treatment and restorative interventions as well as case management.
    • Education and Experience Required: LCSW, LCSWA, LPC, LPCA, LCAS, LCASA,LMFT, LMFTA. Must have one year of documented experience with the adult mental health population. An associate level licensed professional actively seeking licensure may serve as the team leader conditional upon being fully licensed within 30 months from the effective date of this policy.
