Letter from the President
I am very proud to announce that A Caring Alternative has been selected to participate in the 2017-2018 National Council for Behavioral Health’s Trauma-Informed Care Learning Community. The selection process for this nationwide opportunity is very competitive and our agency’s application was rated very high among an especially talented group of organizations.
This will be the 7th Trauma-Informed Care Learning Community sponsored by the National Council for Behavioral Health and 340 teams have participated in this dynamic learning process since 2010. A dedicated Trauma-Informed Organization benefits consumers as well as a staff at all levels within the organization who are actively engaged in this ongoing process. This is a yearlong initiative consisting of close consultation and support from the Learning Community Faculty.
A Core Implementation Team, led by ACA’s Clinical Director, serves as the bridge between the National Council Faculty and the agency. The implementation team is also comprised of a representative from all levels of the agency’s organizational structure to include Peer Staff.
This year’s Learning Community commences in early April in Seattle at the National Council’s Annual Conference and winds up in the spring of 2018 in Washington D.C. However, the goal of the Learning Community is for agencies to continue beyond that point and continually engage in improving their efforts and commitment toward optimal trauma-informed care.
A Caring Alternative is both excited and proud in having been selected to join other organizations nationally that have been selected to participate in the 2017-2018 National Council’s Trauma-Informed Care Learning Community.
