We provide an array services to Alexander, Buncombe, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell, and McDowell Counties, which consist of Assisted Family Living, Assertive Community Treatment Team, Community Support Team, Day Treatment, Integrated Care, Intensive In-Home, Medication Management, Outpatient Therapy, and Therapeutic Foster Care. We are CARF accredited and CABHA certified.

CHILD OUTPATIENT THERAPIST - MORGANTON, NC

  • Seeking a licensed clinician to fill the role of Outpatient Therapist in Morganton, NC. This clinician will be responsible for providing clinical therapeutic services to children with identified mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.

ACTT ASSISTANT TEAM LEAD - MORGANTON, NC

  • Seeking a licensed individual or an individual working towards becoming licensed to join an established ACT Team in Morganton, NC. The purpose of the Team Leader is to oversee the administrative operations of the ACT team, the Assistant Team Leader is an individual preparing to take on the role of a team leader. A rising team leader is expected to serve on the ACT team and report directly to the Team Leader and shall. The goal for ACT is to eliminate or reduce the symptoms of severe mental illness and to enhance the individual’s quality of life. 

  • Education and Experience: Masters degree in human services or closely related field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Special Education and at least one (1) years of experience working with the adult mental health population. ACTT SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR - HICKORY, NC

  • Seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to work as a member of an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Hickory, North Carolina. ACTT is a team dedicated to reducing and eliminating the symptoms of severe mental illness and to enhance the individual's quality of life.

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in Psychology, Social Work, or closely related Human Services area and 2 years of adult mental health experience. Must have licensure as LCAS, LCASA, or CSAC.

TRANSITION THERAPIST - ASHEVILLE, NC

  • A Caring Alternative is hiring for a Transition Therapist in Asheville. This role is part of the Day Treatment program, and works closely with the elementary, middle and high school day treatment programs, Buncombe County Schools and community partners. This position is full-time, salaried with benefits, and clinical supervision is provided. This position is best suited to someone who thrives working independently, enjoys a varied schedule and loves people.

DAY TREATMENT QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL TEAM LEAD - ASHEVILLE, NC

  • Seeking a Team Lead Qualified Professional to provide intensive therapeutic services to youths exhibiting problematic behaviors in a Day Treatment Program within the Buncombe County School System in Asheville, NC. This position will also be responsible for providing operational oversight as well as providing supervision to program staff

ACTT HOUSING SPECIALIST - MORGANTON, NC

  • A Caring Alternative is seeking a Housing Specialist to join an established Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Morganton, NC. ACTT is a team dedicated to reducing and eliminating the symptoms of severe mental illness and to enhance the individual's quality of life. The Housing Specialist is responsible for assisting individuals in obtaining safe, decent, and affordable housing that follows his or her preferences in level of independence and location consistent with evidence-based Supportive Housing Model.

  • Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Psychology, Social Work, or closely related Human Services area and 2 years of adult mental health experience. 

RESIDENTIAL COACH - MARION, NC

  • Seeking both a part time and full time direct care professionals to work as Residential Coaches in Marion, NC. Direct care staff help provide caregivers and their children with an extra layer of support by allowing breaks in care. As a Residential Coach, you will provide emotional, physical and daily living care for youths (ages 6-20) with behavioral health needs in a group home setting.

  • Educations and Requirements: High school diploma or GED is required. Applicants need to be a minimum of 21 years old. Behavioral health experience is preferred.

DAY TREATMENT PARAPROFESSIONAL - MARION, NC

  • Seeking a Day Treatment Paraprofessional to work in collaboration with a team of individuals providing therapeutic services to youths exhibiting problematic behaviors within the McDowell County School System in Marion, North Carolina. 

  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma required, Bachelor's or Masters in Human Services or related field preferred. Two (2) years of post-degree professional experience with the child mental health population preferred.

DAY TREATMENT AP/QP - MARION, NC

  • A Caring Alternative is seeking an Associate Professional or Qualified Professional to provide intensive therapeutic services in a Day Treatment program within the McDowell County School System in Marion, NC. We are looking for someone who feels they have strengths in running groups, being part of a team and teaching coping and social skills. Hours are most typically school hours with flexibility around completing paperwork.

  • Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work or closely related Human Services are required. Two (2) years of professional experience with the child mental health population preferred.

OUTPATIENT THERAPIST - MORGANTON, NC

  • Seeking a licensed clinician to fill the role of Outpatient Therapist in Marion, NC. This clinician will be responsible for providing clinical therapeutic services to individuals with identified mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.

This position is embedded within an academic setting. One individual is needed to work within the Mitchell County School System while the other position is located within the Buncombe County School System.

TRANSITION MANAGMENT PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST - HICKORY, NC

  • Seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide various services to individuals with serve mental health and/or co-occurring conditions in Hickory, North Carolina. This individual would work as a member of the Transition Management Team dedicated to helping individuals increase and restore their ability to live successfully in the community by maintaining tenancy.

  • Education and Experience: Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist with two (2) years of experience with the adult mental health population. 

ACTT PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST - HICKORY, NC

  •  A Caring Alternative is seeking an Peer Support Specialist for a new ACT Team forming in Hickory, NC that will serve clients in Catawba and Iredell Counties. The role of a Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) is to serve as a resources for individuals with mental health and/or co-occurring condition. Peer Support Specialists have been trained and certified to help others with these conditions, as well as identifying and achieving specific life and recovery goals.

  • Education and Experience Required: Certified Peer Support Specialist and one (1) year of behavioral health experience.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM LEAD - HICKORY, NC

  • A Caring Alternative is seeking a Licensed Professional to serve as the team lead for a newly established Community Support Team (CST) in Hickory, North Carolina. Community Support Team (CST) services consist of community-based mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation services and necessary supports provided through a team approach to assist adults in achieving rehabilitative and recovery goals. CST is intended for individuals with mental illness, substance use disorders, or both who have complex and extensive treatment needs. The individual’s clinical needs are evidenced by the presence of a diagnosable mental illness, substance use disorder, or both. This is an intensive community-based rehabilitation team service that provides direct treatment and restorative interventions as well as case management.

  • Education and Experience:LCSW, LCSWA, LCMHC, LCMHC, LCAS, LCASA, LMFT, LMFTA. Must have one year of documented experience with the adult mental health population. An associate level licensed professional actively seeking licensure may serve as the team leader conditional upon being fully licensed within 30 months from the effective date. Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or closely related Human Services field. At least one year of supervisory experience

 

Peer Support Specialist (Morganton, NC)

Seeking several Certified Peer Supports to provide various services to the adult mental health population. Experience with the population served is preferred as well as a working knowledge of the resources available within the local communities. Must be certified. 
 

Provisional and Licensed Clinicians

  • Seeking individuals who are licensed or provisionally licensed with LPC, LCAS, LCSW, LMFT to work within a variety of services such as ACTT, OPT, and SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS. Individuals would work in collaberation with their teams to provide exceptional care to consumers and their families.​

Therapeutic Foster Care Parents (Morganton/Marion/Lenoir, NC)​

  • Seeking individuals licensed or interested in becoming licensed in order to provide Therapeutic Foster Care within their home.  Individuals must be 21 years or older and have GED/High School Diploma. All TFC Parents must have a desire and commitment to help provide a loving home environment. A Caring Alternative will assist with the necessary support & supervision so that the home will be successful in providing a stabilized environment to the child(ren). We will provide the required MAPP course to qualified applicants in addition to other helpful trainings.
